Dr. Jessica Manske has plenty of experience, and certification, using the BIOLASE® Epic diode laser to treat a number of different oral health problems. You may be surprised to learn, however, about the versatility of this tool. In addition to treating tongue- and lip-ties, our dentist can use laser dentistry in the following treatments:
Laser Whitening
Teeth whitening is one of the quickest and easiest ways to improve the appearance of your smile. While laser whitening may have a process similar to traditional in-office teeth whitening, most in-office teeth whitening treatments use a light instead of a laser. The light will produce heat, quickening the work of the whitening gel. In contrast, a dental laser directly activates the chemicals in the whitening gel, which then produce faster and more effective results than traditional teeth whitening.
TMD Treatments
Our team is skilled at treating TMJ disorders, and one of the ways we can do this is with low level laser therapy (LLLT). LLLT works by using our dental laser to assist blood flow to the affected muscles, stimulate the body’s natural healing process and collagen production, and greatly reduce pain by healing the nerves around the affected jaw disk. When your child comes in for their TMJ treatment consultation, our dentist will talk with you to find out if LLLT is the right treatment for your child.
Pain Treatment
The dental laser can also be used to address pain and reduce muscle inflammation in your child’s face and mouth. Not only does laser dentistry speed the healing of soft tissue damage and treats the cause of tense muscles, but it is a quick procedure, usually lasting under 10 minutes.
